Cockfighting Learning and Exhibition Centre
Cockfighting dates back hunderds of years in rural Thailand and it remains a legal and thriving activity in Thailand.The focus of the centre is not to show violent cockfights. The centre's aim is to:
Educate people about the history and the culture of cockfighting, with a Thai focus.
Educate people about the traditional training and breeding methods and traditional medicines developed over hundreds of years in Thailand.
Educate people about the rules, legalities and myths of cockfighting in Thailand.
Show exhibition cock fights to teach people the different fight techniques and tactics used by each breed of bird.
Present the cockfighting in a rural setting with traditional style buildings, as would be used by local farmers who take part in the cock fight industry.
Also show historic photos of rural Chiang Mai to show what rural Chiang Mai used to look like compared to today. Show historic cockfighting pictures collected from all over the world (So the Thai's can see other countries that enjoy cockfighting).
Show traditional farm implements and antiques dating back hundreds of years.
Present all of the above in a safe, cultural, historic, legal, professional and non offensive manner.
Our exhibition cock fights only last a few minutes each and the birds do not use metal spurs as that is illegal in Thailand. To make the fights safe we put leg pads on the birds to hide the natural spur on the back of the legs of the birds to prevent injuries. Our exhibition fights are not to cause injury but simply to show the different fighting styles and techniques only. We usually have 3 five minute exhibition fights. Each of the 3 fights pits two different breeds of birds against each other in order to show the different types of fighting techniques.
