Wat Doi Saket Tour
| Duration | 3 - 6 hours |
| Length | 55 km |
| Location | Chiang Mai |
| Highlights | Handmade paper, reservoir, lake, country-side, temple, irrigation canals |
| Itinerary | 1) We drive eastwards to the rural area outside the city and see how the handmade saa paper is made from the bark of the mulberry tree. Wandering through the workshops we get a clear idea of the whole process. 2) Via rice fields and small villages we drive to Wat Doi Saket which is located on the hill overlooking the village of Doi Saket. The Buddha statues and beautiful modern mural paintings which cover the entire walls are well worth the visit. 3) Following irrigation canals we head to the Mae Kuang Reservoir where we can have a snack and a drink at Uncle Charoen’s Restaurant (well shed actually). 4) Driving back through the villages where time seems to have stand still we go revitalized back to the city. |
